The first annual Burns reunion was held in 1977. Please join us on Saturday August 6, 2016 to celebrate the 39th anniversary of this special gathering. We'll have food, fun, and good company for an extra-special celebration of family connections and reconnections. Let's make this an extra-special reunion!
Gathering starts about 11:00 am for visiting and fellowship. We will dive in to a potluck barbecue picnic lunch around 12:00 noon. As always, plates, silverware, tea (sweet and unsweet), ice and cups are provided. We welcome pot-luck side dishes such as such as sliced garden tomatoes, cantaloupe, deviled eggs, baked beans, desserts, or whatever you care to bring. Those travelling from a distance need not worry about bringing food -- there is always plenty.
Our venue is the same as last year, the Mission House at New Prospect Baptist Church.. Be sure to check out the Location Details before you come.
The Book of Memory will be on display. The Book of Memory was started over 30 years ago to honor the memory of persons in the Burns line of descent (and their spouses) with a Memorial containing their name, dates of birth and death, and list of those who contributed to the Burns Historical Society in their memory. A few years ago, it was decided to add photos and information about the person being remembered so that memorials might be even more meaningful. While additional information is still needed for some, we are seeking photos, newspaper clippings, or other information to fill those gaps. Original photos and documents can be scanned and returned to anyone willing to share. A version of the Book of Memory is planned for the redesigned Burns Historical Society web site.
